The title of any story, article, or blog post is super important. The title creates anticipation, interest, and expectations. The title ultimately determines if the reader is actually going to pursue reading. All of this based on the title. That’s a lot of pressure!
It was very difficult to come up with a blog title that both Gerrit and I liked. We deliberated for a few weeks, trying to think up the perfect combination of words to represent our journey across the country. It finally came to us while we were eating lunch at Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, like we do every Monday. We were sitting at a booth that had a chalk board wall, so while we were waiting for our order I wrote out our ideas. I’m not sure which idea sparked our interest but I just blurted out “somewhere in between.” From there we came up with “Living Life In Between.”
I am not entirely sure if the name “Living Life In Between” has successfully portrayed what we want it to, but as we worked on creating our blog, it stuck! And the domain name was available. 🙂
So what does “Living Life In Between” mean to us exactly and how does it describe us as a couple?
We’re living in between social norms. We’re not simply chasing careers, but we’re not running away from our responsibilities and hard work either. After all, this new life style is going to be a lot of work. We’re still passionate about what we do, but we’ve come to the realization that there might be more to life and the American dream than working to purchase a bigger house and a better car: like exploring amazing places, doing amazing things, meeting interesting people, and spending as much time together as a family as possible.
We are also in between stages in our lives. We’ve just graduated, gotten married, and started careers. Though, we’re not ready to settle down and have kids (other than the kind that have four paws and fur). We have this time now, in between stages, to jump into a completely different lifestyle and experience the country!
Living Life In Between also signifies that we are always in between destinations. We are not just traveling from point A to point B, we’re always somewhere in between. It signifies that our journey has no set or defined end. We are traveling to see EVERYTHING in between points A and B, wherever they might be.
So, we invite you to follow our adventure! Open your heart to be inspired to Living Life In Between.
