We did it! We’ve been living in the RV on the road for one week. So far so good! We have really enjoyed Wilson’s Riverfront RV Park in Asheville, NC. It is in a great location and the camp ground host and owner are super friendly. There is a walking trail that runs through the campground that has been awesome for running with the pups and people watching.
Asheville is one of the most dog friendly cities we have visited. Just about every other person you see is walking their dog. There is a free dog park just down the road from our camp site. We definitely took full advantage of that! We have also really enjoyed hanging out at the Starbucks that is less than 7 minutes away. Gerrit liked working from there and indulging in his favorite coffee flavor, salted caramel mocha.
We explored the Biltmore Village and admired all of the Christmas decorations. We spent too much money at the Fresh Market grocery store before we discovered there was a regular grocery just down the road. It was great hiking through The North Carolina Arboretum. ( I had NO idea what an Arboretum was… apparently it is a collection of woody plants AKA trees haha )
After some deliberation and budget checking we decided to splurge and tour the Biltmore Estate. It was TOTALLY worth it! We loved checking out the inside of the house, it was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the pups loved it too!
We did have a little bump in the road, other than Gerrit being sick earlier in the week, we found a leak. Luckily, Gerrit was able to find the source and plug it up with dicor. There were a few days where it rained, and rained hard! It was a good thing though because western North Carolina had been in a drought and the rain aided in containing the forest fires in the area.
I took this from a look out spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
On our last day at the campground I ventured down the road to the laundromat where I ran into one of our neighbors at the RV park, a fellow fulltimer traveling with two dogs. It was his 73rd birthday that day and he was so sweet. He and his wife have been RVing for the better part of 20 years. He gave me their travel blog information, that I will link here, and told me about some cheap campgrounds in Florida.
Full time RV living has been everything we’d hoped and more. Here’s to continuing the adventure!
