We went to San Antonio with Gerrit’s parents Penny and Dave to check out The Alamo. I wouldn’t say it was disappointing but it definitely wasn’t what I thought it was going to be. It looked like it was plopped down in the middle of the city and it looked so minimal compared to all the high rises around it. Obviously it was there long before the city but it felt very out of place. We did really enjoy learning about the history of the Alamo. Before it was known as The Alamo it was known as Misión San Antonio de Valero which is a part of the San Antonio Missions World Heritage Site.
We also walked some of the River Walk. It was lively and fun! Mariachi bands were playing all around and it was packed tight with hundreds of people. We ate outside at a restaurant called The Lone Star Cafe with the pups. It was really good! Then we had ice cream on the way out.
I could definitely go back to San Antonio! Very cool place just to walk around and enjoy the 80 degree weather!
