Joshua Tree National Park | California

Our time at Joshua Tree has been amazing. If you were to just drive through you would surely miss some of the great wonders that make this park unique. Our main goal when we came here was to climb Headstone Rock. And we did it! It was a great climb and we were so proud of ourselves for doing it.

Photo cred to the climber who was coming up after us and thought we looked cool up there and snapped a pic.

But not only is the park gorgeous and the Joshua Trees themselves something completely out of this world, but we have connected with some great people.

We were able to spend time with Sam, Brenden, and their adorable furfamily of five from @lifeamongpines. They invited us over to their class A for home made Chick-Fil-A and a bonfire. They re-modeled the inside of their RV which has inspired and given us the courage to do it to our own! We went on a hike together and then went out for some local Mexican food. It’s crazy how much we all have in common and we enjoyed talking with a couple our age who is crazy enough to love this crazy lifestyle. Sam runs an Etsy shop @mugsysupplyhouse and she created the most adorable mug of our pups! We also got Brenden up on a wall and he did great! We can’t wait to see them again!

We were also privileged to meet Steve and Tess from The More We Explore. They opened their home up to us as well and we truly loved getting to know them. It was crazy because before we started this journey we came across their YouTube channel and were inspired by their story and love of adventure. Which in turn helped us decide to dive right into this nomadic lifestyle. We took them on their first climbing adventure (they did AMAZING and concurred their fear of heights!) and did a few hikes together. Our adventurous spirits meshed right away. Oakley and Ella even made great friends with their pup Fender. We can not wait to see them again! Be sure to check out the video they created from our climbing adventures!

When you’re living on the road and spend a limited amount of time with the people you meet, your relationships grow much faster, if that makes sense. It felt like we had known them for much longer than a week, but they are friends that we will have for a VERY long time.

Here’s to seeing our new friends again soon!

Love,

Lindsey, Gerrit, Oakley, and Ella
