Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico

Our last stop in New Mexico was Carlsbad Caverns. It was a great way wrap up our time in this awesome state! We had a great boondocking spot in the Lincoln National Forrest surrounded by beef cattle. Oakley has taken a liking to cows now and we even caught her licking one of their noses! She would come back from playing with them, smelling more like a cow than a dog.

The cows got a bit friendly with us as well. Gerrit sent me an SOS message while I was running errands in town. The cows have come home! And their rubbing their butt’s up against the slide-out! No damage was done and thankfully that poor cow was able to get his scratch itched!

There was so much space for the pups to run and Ella had a ball (pun intended) playing fetch all day long!

We did really enjoy the caverns though. The pillars inside were like none we had ever seen! we concluded that the features in this cave were just all around larger than those of any other caves we had been in. And instead of narrow walls to squeeze through there were wide open spaces.

We had to leave a few days earlier than planned due to some high winds coming through the area, so it’s back into Texas we go!

Isaiah 2:19

Men will go into caves of the rocks And into holes of the ground Before the terror of the LORD And the splendor of His majesty, When He arises to make the earth tremble.
