Slow and Steady Wins the Race

I wanted to come on here and post an update because it has been a while since my last post. So much has happened and there is so much I have not mentioned even when I have found the time to post!

First off, I mentioned last year (November?) that I was contemplating getting lens replacement surgery yet I never followed up. Ha! I DID have the surgery and it was THE BEST decision! Not only is my vision corrected for both near and far vision (and in-between), but my dry eye has improved because the doctor at my follow-up prescribed me with a drop that helps my eyes create more tears. I still have dry eye symptoms on and off, especially when I skip my twice daily allergy drops, but overall I would now classify my dry eye as moderate to mild. Yay! And my vision is superb. I have a multi-focal lens INSIDE each eye that gives me three prescriptions. I can see up close ya’ll and my vision is better than 20-20. How I forgot to mentioned the surgery is beyond me. I guess I just….forgot. So if you wondered? There you go.

Lots of happening at the cabin, too. I hired a crew to install goat fencing around the perimeter and also up and down the road and around the house. My cousin said I could have some of her new young goats so once I get a small barn built for them I will have about 5-8 goats. I want all females so I don’t have to deal with kids or a stinky billy. I have already hired the guy who built my fence to build the barn and he will also make improvements on my existing chicken coop so I can get some chickens (no rooster). And who knows, maybe I will get some other kinds of animals, too.

My brother recently moved into my garage bedroom. He is renting it from me for the cost of utilities and has agreed to help me with upkeep like mowing and feeding/tending animals once I get them. He plans to attend college using his GI Bill. It has been nice to have him around. We work out together and he has “hired” me to be his personal trainer. 🙂

I recently invited my sister and nephew out for a visit. I had to pick her up (they live 20 miles from me) but it was worth it. She is going on a month sober and is struggling with handling the rollercoaster of emotions sobriety brings. It was nice to catch up and her son enjoyed a visit with his cousins. I took them to buy groceries on the trip back to her place because they lost their food stamps recently. She still qualifies but they didn’t realize they had to reapply and so they were dropped which didn’t work out in their favor. Hopefully they get that sorted soon. I do plan more visits with her this summer. Hopefully she remains sober and can rebuild her life.

My school counseling position lost its allocation and, though my contract was renewed, the district put me in a Title 1 school that was not in the most ideal location. I had already planned to resign so when I was reassigned I did. I am currently looking for part-time, remote work, but am being extremely selective. My apartment lease comes up for renewal in October but I do not want to renew. I really dislike apartment living and now that my daughter has graduated and will be going to college in the Fall, I don’t need it. If something happens to come up between now and October that changes my mind, then so be it, but for now my plan is to live in my country home full-time.

I have not had much time to invest in the spiritual but it is still a goal of mine to return to the Work. Interestingly, I gave an impromptu mediumship reading to the fence contractor at the end of April. The way it came about was perfect synchronicity. On the walk of the property to determine the fence line, the contractor saw a coyote. I didn’t see it so I laughed and said, “Oh, it’s a sign meant just for you. Coyote is the trickster.” He asked what that meant and I said, “That things are not as they seem”. On a second walk a few weeks later he brought up the coyote and told me, “You were right. Things were not as they seemed. We had just found out my wife was pregnant. She recently lost the baby, though.” As we talked more I revealed to him my spiritual gifts and we parted ways for the afternoon. As he was leaving he sat me down and asked for a reading. I spent about an hour with him and it turned out well I think. It had been a long time for me, so I was rusty, but all in all I was pleased as was he.

Finally, I have had multiple encounters with turtles. Last year it was snakes, so the message has shifted from transformation to perseverance. Turtle asks us to be patient, stay grounded, stay the course, set firm boundaries, and navigate emotion with ease and honesty. Turtle reminds us we are protected and loved. Slow and steady wins the race.

There were two large turtle encounters one day apart. The first was with a common snapping turtle. The second was a soft-shelled turtle. I actually saw the second three days in a row after the first encounter. Finally, my brother found a small red-eared snapper shell in the mud that I am going to clean up for display.

Dream Message: Go Home.

Lots of vivid dreams last night.

The first one I recall most vividly was set in India. I found myself amongst a group of tourists traveling in India. I was confused as to how I got there and remember feeling confused most of the dream. Me and a couple of women were visiting a temple. As we stood at its entrance, I decided I wanted to take a picture. I centered on the temple entrance and took a pic with my phone. Then I suggested me and the other two women get a picture of us together at the entrance. I said I could take it and pulled out my iPad. I took a picture but when I went to retrieve it, I noticed the settings had been wrong and the camera was not facing the right direction. I wanted to take another but the older women with us got huffy and impatient. She seemed very annoyed with me in general.

Our group ended up inside a large building that was open to the outside. We sat together at this meeting space waiting for everyone to get there so we could move on as a group. There were others there, none I recognized but all obviously part of our larger group. The space was somewhat noisy and reminded me of an open air market.

Next, I remember the scene shifting suddenly and I was face to face with a young Indian man. He looked very much like the dark haired man who use to visit me in dreams long ago. With him came the Kundalini. I noticed he had what looked like tiny, white circular bugs with six legs in his hair. I said something to him but he just stared towards the other side of the room. I remember thinking the man was handsome.

I inched closer to the man to investigate the tiny bugs when I heard someone say something. When I turned towards the voice to answer the Indian man vanished and the entire open aired meeting space returned to my visual field. Everyone in the group had left and I was alone except for a couple of others who had also been left behind. We walked out of the building trying to find the rest of the group.

Again, my consciousness seemed pulled from the scene. This time I was on a boat with a woman. The water was dark blue and very rough, the boat tipping drastically from one side to the other. The woman had with her a massive turtle. The turtle was almost as large as the boat, his shell marked with beautiful gold and green patterns. She and the turtle fell overboard and, not long after, I did, too. The turtle came forward, offering its shell. I grabbed on.

As I floated there with the massive turtle, a snake-like, metallic creature rose up out of the water. Instead of scales, it had silver, linked metal bands going up and down it’s snake-like neck. It’s head was rounded at the top with a point at the tip. It’s mouth opened, reddish eyes flashing. I was certain I was about to be eaten when I noticed a man sitting on a chair inside the open jaws of the beast. He was wearing what looked like a space suit. He, the chair and controls, were completely protected behind glass. Was it the man I saw earlier in the open aired building in India? It didn’t take me long to realize the snake was no snake but some kind of craft.

My fear dissipated and I watched in awe as the snake head bowed and then stopped inches from me.

This is when I heard, “Go home.” It was a whisper in my right ear and very, very audible. Before I had a chance to react, I heard again, “Go home.” The voice was raspy and masculine. As I heard it, I felt myself shift into my physical body, the dream scene with the metallic snake disappearing along with the visual of the space man.

I woke and couldn’t return to sleep. The dream felt almost like I had entered into another life but then was plucked from it as if someone was trying to get my attention. I wondered about what the voice said. Home. Which home? What did he mean?

I fell back to sleep with these questions on my mind.

I entered another dream. This time I was in a small house. I could see a sofa and full living room. My husband’s family was there. They were talking amongst themselves and I brought up my India dream. I specifically brought up the message I received – Go home. I went over all the details of the dream with them as if trying to remember everything I could about it.

I remember asking them, “What does ‘Go home’ mean to you?” My BIL said he thought of it as his family – his children and his wife. My SIL said something similar. Everyone had a slightly different definition of “home”. It seemed to me like “home” was something only the heart knew.

The scene shifted and I was outside walking through thigh high grass. I reached my left hand out and let it graze the top of the grass as I sang the Lord’s Prayer aloud. My dream self knew this place and knew exactly where I was going. I was heading down the valley to my meditation hut.

As I got closer to where the hut was suppose to be, I noticed the hut was absent, the spot where it should be was a green patch of grass.  There was a man doing work in the area on a well located near the absent hut. I asked him where the hut was. He said it had been in horrible shape so they tore it down. I was disappointed and said, “I was going to meditate there.” The man said no one had used it for years.

I remember looking around, noting the empty spot where the hut use to be, taking in the scene. There were tall oak trees with green, grassy meadows in between. It was very peaceful.

Vision: Caged Bird

When I woke up I was still thinking of what “home” meant. I spoke with my guides about it. They were asking me to Remember. It seemed like I was being asked to continue where I had left off. This evoked fear in me and I almost started to cry.

I was presented with a visual. It was a bird in a cage. I said, “It can’t sing.” I heard my guide say, “Or fly.” Then the scene flashed and the visual returned but the cage was empty. I knew the bird was dead. The door to the cage was unlocked but closed.

Message: Slow Down, Don’t Fall Off the Edge

Sunday I went to the funeral of the man who set himself on fire in our old house. I didn’t really want to go but felt I should.

The funeral was nice and, as most funerals do, it focused on only the positive about the deceased. There was quite a bit of crying and sharing of stories. I managed okay by keeping a tight reign on my energy field so as to not over empathize. At one point, though, my guidance suggested I open up a bit. When I did, I felt the presence of Spirit to my left, felt the grief wash over me and heard a quiet, “Thank you.” I knew it was from the deceased and rather than become emotional like everyone else, I pulled my energy back but not before my eyes got teary.

At the end we went outside for the military honors portion which was a first for me. My mom and step-father were there so we all went out to eat dinner afterward. It was a very enjoyable dinner with lots of laughing and good conversation.

Since the funeral I have not felt the deceased around. I think he may have moved on, or at least away from me, but then I have been quite distracted so it could just be I am not noticing him because of that. It appears that there was a warning in the “fire” of the man’s passing, a warning of the Kundalini’s return. I have been having waves of the energy rushing through me, lighting up my third-eye, heart, solar plexus, throat, and root (almost all of my chakras). It got so intense that I gratefully immersed myself in my normal exercise routine to ground the energy.

When I woke this morning the energy was present again, only this time in my second chakra and crown.

All throughout I have been sensing a message of, “Slow down” and “Take it slow” from my guidance. Funny enough, as if to push the point, I had a wonderful encounter with a very large turtle in my back yard last night. We have a creek that runs along the border of our property. Just recently it flooded quite severely but the water receded as soon as the rain stopped. The turtle was likely seeking a reprieve from too much water, sunning himself near the water’s edge. Despite myself and my entire family getting very close, he refused to move. He looked like a large, moss covered rock, ancient and strong.

Along with the message of “slow down”, I have also been receiving warnings. Specifically I have heard, “Passion is a double edge sword.” With it comes a visual of walking on a tightrope. Don’t fall off the edge….

Another message came in the song, Borderline, by Madonna. Specifically, “You keep pushing my love over the borderline.”

Dreams

I’ve been sleeping deeply without too many dream memories upon waking. I recall one dream from last night where I was de-cluttering my daughter’s room. What is most memorable is her closet. She had been using it as a shower and so the clothing and furniture that was near it was becoming soaked. I went directly to it and began to move the items away. I found a huge bundle of belts (feeling conflict between what I think and what I feel). More than any person could ever wear. I was saying, “Why do you have so many belts? You don’t even wear belts.” I took them and separated out the majority for donation.

Inside her closet there were clothes on the floor. I picked up two coats (protection) and put them on hangers. They were her brother’s coats, not hers. Near the closet was a small nightstand with drawers. I had to move it across the room but there was not any space left. So I set it on top of her dresser. When I did this, the table morphed into a white tank or aquarium (emotions yet to be confronted, feeling of going in circles). Inside was a set up for a turtle or similar. The tank filled partially with water when I set it on the dresser.

Considerations

When I woke I was full of thoughts over how to reconcile the human and spiritual sides of myself. The two must be in balance and if they aren’t then problems or conflict will occur. What the spiritual desires the physical side may not yet be ready to embrace. The dream seemed to echo my thoughts, especially in the cluttered room and the multitude of belts.

Snapping Turtle Message

I had a weird experience last night. Not sure what to call it but it left me feeling unsettled.

What I recall now of the experience is quite muted because it happened early on in the night. There is mainly a feeling of dis-ease that goes with it. I recall feeling transplanted from one body to the other; as if this was a “normal” thing to experience. The energetics of it were unsettling and induced a low grade alarm reaction in me, but not enough to cause me to react or resist. There was a sense of shifting from one time to another. It was like I was jumping around taking a look at all the possible timelines. Along with all this was memory of all these other timelines as well as this current one. It was very difficult to process and thus left me feeling very disoriented, confused and alarmed.

When I woke up I was stunned and still trying to process what I had just experienced. Honestly, I felt completely insane and it was hard not to imagine myself having a psychotic break from it all. I thought for sure I would go into a disassociative state or that I may already in the midst of one which was why I was so confused.

Somehow, despite feeling crazy, I fell back to sleep. I recall being reminded to “surrender” and being I had just re-blogged one of my own posts on that exact topic, it made sense and I didn’t question it.

However, moments before falling asleep, I remembered all these other similar incidents that I had somehow forgotten! It was bizarre and a bit concerning that I had forgotten them, yet I knew I had chosen to do so probably in order to avoid the exact feelings I was having this time around. The previous experiences were very energetic as well, as if someone came and plucked me out of my body, put me in another body or something energetically altering, and then put me back. All the while I was conscious of the exchange but not resisting. Actually, I am not sure my resistance would do any good. It was more a sense of being frozen and unable to do anything except allow the experience. Yet all the experiences left me on high alert upon returning to this reality and thinking that I must be losing my mind.

It is not a fun feeling yet at the same time I am also not alarmed at all, as if it is all completely normal! I think perhaps I experienced it from two perspectives – the Ego (small self) and the Higher Self. Of course, the Higher Self wins out and is why the ultimate feeling that wins out is the “this happens all the time” consideration. It is such a calm, “I got this” kinda of feeling, too, and there is complete Trust and Knowing.

I know. Bizarre. What can I say? This is my life. lol

Any psychologist/psychiatrist would likely diagnose me with some kind of mental illness. Every time I have these experiences, especially the ones where I am most obviously experiencing as two aspects of one, the thought crosses my mind that I must be schizophrenic or at the least emotionally disturbed to the point of disassociation. I’ve been down that road before and found it a dead-end.

Prior to bed I had been feeling like my entire life was “wrong” again. I had a very strange feeling I cannot describe and was thinking, “I can’t go on like this for much longer.” Perhaps I was being recalibrated in my sleep to address this feeling?

Snapping Turtle

This morning I had a very unexpected in-depth discussion with my husband that ended rather abruptly. As with most of our discussions, tempers flared and voices were raised periodically.

After he left for work I went down to make breakfast for myself and my youngest son. When I went outside to toss some leftovers I noticed something in our creek.

I called my son outside to see the turtle and we watched him for a while. In the above picture he is eating a yellow pear that had fallen into the water. We have pear trees that still have fruit falling from them, so it was likely quite fresh and perfect eating.

Eventually, the turtle sensed us and swam away. The whole while we were both fascinated. We’ve lived here over 4 years and never seen a turtle, much less a snapping turtle!

Snapping Turtle symbolism and meaning:

Some journey has come to its final end.

Speak up for yourself, take a stand but be fair about it.

Communicate honestly; do not withhold anything.

Take your time and think before making decisions that cannot be undone.

It’s time to go your own way.

It is amazing to me how the Universe works, how it sends a messenger to answer the questions I had going through my mind just prior.

As I was editing this post a song came to mind – Fleetwood Mac’s (who is playing here in Austin in February) – Go Your Own Way.

Hahaha and if you click on the link above “Austin in February” you will see that this message repeats:

Going Their Own Way in 2018!
